Eduardo Capetillo (born April 13, 1970) is a Mexican actor and singer who has appeared in a number of films. He was born in the Mexican capital of Mexico City. Mr. Capetillo is descended from a family of bullfighters with a lengthy history in the city of Madrid. In his youth, he participated in some preparatory courses with actress Martha Zabaleta as well as some jazz classes at Televisa’s centre of certification for actors and singers. His professional career began when he won the festival Juguemos a Cantar, where he took second place with the song Mi grupo toca Rock (My band plays rock), which was subsequently released by Orfeón Records and established his professional career. He appeared in the Spanish stage production of Grease, Vaselina, and in 1983, he recorded his first telenovela, Martn Garatuza, which was shown on Telemundo. Eduardo became a member of Timbiriche in 1986, taking over for Benny Ibarra. With the release of the album Timbiriche VI, and the following production of additional successes with the albums Timbiriche VII, Timbiriche VIII, and Timbiriche lX, the band achieved widespread success. Capetillo performed a number of solos that went on to become successes, including No seas tan cruel, Todo Cambia, and Con todos menos conmigo, among others. After that, he went on a tour of Mexico and other Latin American nations. Capetillo quit the group in 1989 and started a solo career, which he has continued to this day. In 1991, he sold more than a million copies of a five-song CD that served as the soundtrack of the telenovela Alcanzar una estrella (Achieve Stardom). The next year, he released his first album, Dame Una Noche. In 1992, he made a comeback as an actor and singer, due to the success of another soap, Baila conmigo, and his second studio album, Estoy Aqu (I’m Here). Later on, he would release a new album, Piel Ajena, and embark on a career that would combine his talents as an actor and singer in telenovelas, cementing his position as a Latino idol thanks to titles such as Marimar, in which he co-starred with Thalia and which was broadcast in more than 150 countries, or Canción De Amor, Camila, or El secreto, in which he and Yadhira Carrillo are the only Mexican actors Eduardo Capetillo has returned to the studio to record a new album with Horus-Muxxic, which was recorded in various studios throughout Mexico and Spain and directed and produced by his brother-in-law Chacho Gaytán. The good-looking Eduardo Capetillo has returned to the studio thanks to the telenovela El secreto, which was broadcast on Spanish television (the TVE). In 2003, he also sang a song from the telenovela Bajo la misma piel, which he also composed. Amy, la nia de la mochila azul was a 2004 film in which he featured. Peregrina, his most recent telenovela, tells the tale of an 18-year-old circus girl who learns the identity of her true family. Capetillo is married to Bibi Gaytán, an actress and singer who was his Timbiriche co-star during the filming of the film.
